Awesome Foundation Youngstown is excited to announce a call for proposals for its inaugural $1,000 micro grant for projects taking place in the City of Youngstown!

In June 2017, a group of Youngstown State University faculty, local entrepreneurs, and citizens of the city founded the Youngstown chapter of the Awesome Foundation. The Awesome Foundation is a global community advancing the interest of awesome in the universe, $1000 at a time. The founding trustees include RJ Thompson (YSU, Graphic + Interactive Design,) Tim Francisco (YSU, English), Jai Jackson (YSU, Communications), Peter Norris (YSU, Chemistry), and Lillian Lewis (YSU, Art Education), Leslie Brothers (Executive Director of the McDonough Museum of Art), Julie Michael Smith (YSU Entrepreneurship Coordinator), Derrick McDowell (Owner, Youngstown Flea), Dominic J. Marchionda (YSU Regional Economic Development Initiative, Youngstown Economic Action Group), Nick Chretien (YSU Regional Economic Development Initiative), and Dominque Howse (Deputy Chief of School Culture & Community Innovation with Youngstown City School District.) The trustees of Awesome Foundation Youngstown (along with funds raised through a t-shirt fundraiser) are funding the inaugural grant. Awesome Foundation Youngstown is a fiscally sponsored by the Economic Action Group, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

We all know how Awesome it is to live, work and play in the City of Youngstown! The dedicated founders of Awesome Foundation Youngstown want to help those who can make our community even better by offering a $1,000 grant award to an individual or group by utilizing the creative arts and technology as a catalyst for community and economic development.

Our application process is simple:

  2. Submit a proposal! Dream big, but be realistic, be detailed, and be excited!
  3. The most awesome idea gets funded! Make it happen and make it big!

Please note that we do not typically fund: travel, salaries, or living expenses. Projects based in the City of Youngstown take priority. Proposals due 9/8/17 at 5pm.
